DRUG/ALCOHOL & NEEDS ASSESSMENT SERVICES
THE GENESIS PROJECT
The Genesis Project address the first step in the treatment process. The assessment tools used are NEEDS, SALCE, and JASAE. ALL assessment tools are available in Spanish and English.
NEEDS assessment a 130-question, comprehensive, adult assessment tool. This instrument addresses life stress, attitude and emotional stability, criminal history and alcohol/drug use based on DSM-IV and ASAM guidelines. This instrument may be used as the basis for a personal interview, a psycho-social history or referral.
SALCE assessment is a 98-question, adult substance abuse evaluation.
JASAE assessment is a 107-question, automated adolescent substance abuse evaluation. This instrument simplifies the difficult task of conducting assessments with juveniles by focusing on age, and life situations as part of substance abuse assessment. The JASAE incorporates the differences in life situations for juveniles, including: living at home, going to school and not having a job or a family to support. The JASAE addresses the following areas of concern:
- Alcohol and drug use based on DSM-IV and ASAM guidelines
- Attitudes and life stress
